‘The Glee Project’ Season 2 Promo featuring Lea Michele as guest mentor
Written by on May 3rd, 2012

It was reported back in January that Lea Michele will appear as a guest mentor on the season 2 premiere of ‘The Glee Project’ and they have just released the video promo. I have also quoted below the news dated January 23rd as it hasn’t been posted before.

https://twitter.com/#!/msleamichele

Time to Gleek out — Lea Michele will serve as a guest mentor in The Glee Project‘s Season 2 premiere.
Michele, who is the first of the show’s Season 2 guests to be revealed, broke the good news herself via Twitter over the weekend, but Oxygen officially made the announcement on Monday morning.

Glee stars were a regular fixture during Glee Project‘s first season. Among the McKinley High regulars who guest mentored the contestants were Darren Criss, Harry Shum Jr., Mark Salling, Jenna Ushkowitz and Kevin McHale.

Season 2 of The Glee Project began filming this week in Los Angeles, and will air on Oxygen in Summer 2012.

Glee SPOILERS!! Rachel’s Future, Freaky Friday, a Formidable Pairing and More!
Written by on May 3rd, 2012

Still floored that Rachel botched her big audition in this week’s episode? (Its title, “Choke,” was kind of a giveaway…) Freaking out that only a few episodes stand between you and the McKinley High graduation? You’re not alone. At a Tuesday Glee panel, the show’s cast and crew explained why hope is not lost for Rachel and teased what’s to come before G-Day.

You will need tissues.

1. Rachel is not so easily defeated. Viewers shocked to see New Directions’ shiniest star choke during her NYADA audition, don’t be fooled. While series boss Ryan Murphy said it was a more interesting choice for Rachel (Lea Michele) not to go sailing through to her dream school, it’s not in the character’s DNA to accept defeat. “The great thing about her is that she does not give up,” Murphy said, adding that the writers had fun in the upcoming episodes writing to her defining “tenacity.” Michele said she was “really devastated” for Rachel, and identified with the “real fear” of failure that performers face regularly.

2. Oh yes, there will be tears. It’s still anyone’s guess who will be moving on from — and out of? — Glee when Graduation Day comes and Season 3 ends. But the cast is already all broken up about it because they began shooting the season’s last episode this week. “I definitely collapsed on to the ground the other day,” Michele said. All the actors ‘fessed up to crying at some point — and they had only been through two days of filming! Kleenex, gleeks. Kleenex!

3. Freaky Friday time. This is totally happening: Tina (Jenna Ushkowitz) will fall into a fountain at the mall, and when she comes to, everyone will have switched bodies. Really. You want proof? Fine. Look for Tina to wake up as Rachel. Also, Kurt (Chris Colfer) will play Finn (Cory Monteith), Puck (Mark Salling) becomes Blaine (Darren Criss) and Santana (Naya Rivera) becomes… Artie (Kevin McHale)? “Naya as Kevin is hilarious,” executive producer Ian Brennan said. But perhaps topping even that is Mike Chang (Harry Shum) as Joe Hart (The Glee Project winner Samuel Larsen). “Harry with dreads… best thing ever,” Brennan said.

4. The next formidable pairing: Coache Bieste (Dot Marie Jones) and Puck! You read that right. No clue as to why they’re teaming up, but consider this: They’ll be singing Taylor’s Swift’s banjo-driven “Mean,” which the country star wrote in response to her critics. (She’s a fragile flower, people!) Let’s read into these lyrics together: “Someday I’ll be livin’ in a big ol’ city and all you’re ever gonna be is mean. Someday I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me and all you’re ever gonna be is mean. Why you gotta be so mean?” Wait, who’s picking on Puck?!

5. Official: Brittany’s a senior. If you’re wondering if McKinley’s senior class president had magically reverted back to junior status just because Heather Morris’ face isn’t on the cover of the Glee graduation soundtrack, think again. What kind of grades she’s pulling is a bit murkier…

‘Glee’ scoop: Details on next week’s emotional, pivotal episode ‘Choke’
Written by on April 29th, 2012

As we get closer to the May 22 season finale of Glee, the stakes are getting higher, which is evident in next week’s episode, “Choke.” EW got an early look at the hilarious, but also emotional hour, which finds Rachel (Lea Michele) and Kurt (Chris Colfer) auditioning for NYADA (in the form of guest star Whoopi Goldberg, who does a great, subdued turn). For Gleeks, this episode is a pivotal one since this is what the high schoolers, especially Rachel, have been working towards for the last three years. It does not disappoint. Both actors, especially Michele, deliver stellar performances. I don’t want to give away too much but — SPOILER ALERT — here are a few other teases…

Glee Sneak Peek: Watch Rachel Prepare for the Audition of a Lifetime With Finn’s Help!
Written by on April 28th, 2012

Welcome back, Rachel Berry (Lea Michele)!

With her NYADA audition rapidly approaching, Rachel is reverting to her pilot ways on Glee this Tuesday, meaning she’s at her neurotic best, and we couldn’t be happier.

So how is Rachel preparing for the biggest audition of her life? And why is she refusing to kiss fiancé Finn (Cory Monteith)?! We’ve got an exclusive sneak peek at “Choke,” which will answer those questions—plus you’ll finally find out what Rachel’s “presidential” face looks like.

How ah-mah-zing is Rachel’s inner monologue throughout the scene?!

In typical Rachel fashion, she’s super focused and regimented before the NYADA audition to ensure that she’s in tip-top shape.

Some of the precautions she’s taking? No doorknobs (don’t worry, Finn’s more than happy to play her personal door-opener) and no kisses (sorry, Finn, you win some, you lose some!), as well as no stepping on cracks. Oh, and walking backward down the hallway. Can’t forget about that! Glee fans should probably be preparing themselves for a cloudy day on Wednesday, as Rachel is determined to shine so bright during her audition that “the sun is going to cry with envy.”

We’re thinking Finchel fans will particularly love the moment when Finn helps Rachel practice her many faces in the mirror. (How cute is Finn with the timer?!) Our favorite? Presidential! Plus, there’s a little wink—literally—to fans of Rachel and Puck (Mark Salling) (remember those days?!) thrown in the clip for good measure!

Still, Rachel’s intense and makeout-less preparations may all be for nothing considering the episode is titled “Choke” and the synopsis says Rachel and Kurt (Chris Colfer) will receive news that could possibly send their well-laid plans into a tailspin. Yikes!

Glee airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Who do you think will choke during their NYADA audition, Rachel or Kurt? Which of Rachel’s faces is your favorite? Sound off in the comments!

SPOILER! Glee Goes Gaga at Nationals, Rachel Channels Celine Dion
Written by on April 28th, 2012

Glee‘s latest trip to Nationals is shaping up to be a real monster ball. TVLine has obtained the set list for the May 15 singoff, and it includes Lady Gaga‘s smash, “Edge of Glory.”

But who’ll be stepping into the pop star’s platform boots? And, for that matter, what other numbers are up?

The all-female Troubletones will be belting out “Glory,” thus fanning the flames of the Fox hit’s obsession with Gaga. And the erstwhile Stefani Germanotti won’t be the only diva getting her due during the two-hour episode: Rachel will perform a cover of Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now,” and New Directions are serving Meat Loaf’s “Paradise By the Dashboard Light.” (Fun fact: Loaf also covered “It’s All Coming Back to Me Now.”)

As previously reported, Lindsay Lohan will play one of the judges at Nationals.

Lea Michele’s one-story house, built in 1920, features French doors, an office, attic space and two bedrooms. She paid $1.4 million for the updated bungalow.

Closing shortly after co-star Kevin McHale’s nearby home purchase, “Glee’s” Lea Michele has bought a bungalow in Hollywood for $1.4 million.

The one-story house, built in 1920, sits behind tall hedges and has a gated driveway. The updated bungalow features French doors, an office, attic space, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. An outdoor dining pavilion includes a kitchen.

Michele, 25, has played aspiring soprano Rachel Berry since 2009 on the television series. She will voice the part of Dorothy in the animated film “Dorothy of Oz,” due out this year.

Joe Reichling and Boni Bryant of Sotheby’s International Realty were the listing agents. Justin Paul Huchel of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.

When Glee producers were looking to cast Michele’s onscreen mom, they quickly landed on fellow Broadway veteran Menzel, who shares the starlet’s dark hair and pouty lips. But while a fan campaign brought the resemblance to light, Menzel’s husband Taye Diggs said, “We knew that existed far, far before the TV world did.”

Darren Criss and Lea Michele Serenade Jonsson Cancer Center Supporters With their First Ever Duet
Written by on April 26th, 2012

Darren Criss and Lea Michele of “Glee” did more than sing together in public for the first time at “Taste for a Cure 2012,” the Apr. 20 fundraiser for UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation.

“Along with performing tonight, which is such a gift, and so generous, they were both bidding on auction items,” said dinner co-chair Dana Walden, who then turned to the TV stars and declared, “You rock!” Walden is chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Television.

The event honored NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke with the 2012 Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award. In ceremonies, Walden praised Salke for her kindness, generosity and loyalty.

“Never in the history of fundraisers has someone had more reason to decline being honored at an event like this, but when it comes to one of her friends and people in need of help, ‘no’ just isn’t in Jennifer’s vocabulary.”

In accepting her award, Salke spoke of her brushes with cancer and thanked the Jonsson Center “for the incredible work that you do every single day to save and improve the lives of your patients.”

Glee creator Ryan Murphy concluded ceremonies by introducing Criss and Michele, but not without recalling Salke’s role in Glee’s inception.

“When I told (Salke) four years ago that I wanted to do a television musical about the worst high school glee club in Lima, Ohio, she could have easily run screaming from the room – but she got it right away,” he said. “’Glee’ is all about optimism and hope, which is certainly something everyone could use a little bit more of in their lives.”

Murphy then introduced “the amazing Darren Criss and the unforgettable Lea Michele.”

Criss, aka Blaine Anderson in “Glee,” started the show solo, by singing “Almost Like Being in Love.” He followed with “Teenage Dream,“ the song he sang on his first Glee episode, and the song he said turned his life upside down.

Calling his performance a warm-up act for Michele, Criss described the show’s Rachel Berry as “charismatic” and “beautiful,” and summed up by saying, “I’m one of her biggest fans and I cry every time she sings on the show.”

Taking her turn onstage, Michele opened with “My Man,” before pausing to praise Salke. “It is because of you that ‘Glee’ is so wonderful,” she said.

The evening ended with the two singing a mesmerizing “To Make You Feel My Love.”

More dinner co-chairs were Jon Holman of The Holman Group, Larry Maguire of Far Niente Winery, Jay Sures of United Talent Agency and Gary Newman, chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Television, who introduced Judith Gasson, director of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Among others attending were David Nevins, Showtime’s president of entertainment; and Kevin Reilly, president of FOX Broadcasting Company.

Participating chefs were Gilles Arzur of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel; Ludovic Lefebvre of LudoBites; Suzanne Tracht of Jar; and Cindy Pawlcyn of Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen, Mustards Grill and Brassica.

‘Glee’ cast places 200th hit on Hot 100
Written by on April 23rd, 2012

The cast of the American television show “Glee” has become the first act to place 200 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Columbia Records said.

The stars of the music-themed series first appeared on the U.S. record chart in 2009 with their version of Journey’s classic “Don’t Stop Believin’.”

In late 2010, the “Glee” cast topped The Beatles’ record of 71 entries on the Hot 100. The ensemble marked another milestone in 2011, when their 113th entry beat Elvis Presley’s record of 108 entries, officially making them the record-holder for most entries in Billboard’s 54-year history.

Contributing to the “Glee” cast’s landmark 200 entries is their recent version of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” which sold 170,000 tracks in two weeks.

To date, “Glee” has sold 43 million songs and more than 12 million albums worldwide.

Lea Michele to celebrate Barbra Streisand’s birthday
Written by on April 23rd, 2012

Lea Michele is throwing a 70th birthday party for Barbra Streisand.

The ‘Glee’ star is a huge fan of the singer and actress and plans to pull out all the stops with a huge party as her idol reaches the landmark age on April 24.

A source told Hollywoodlife.com: ‘Lea is obsessed with Barbra Streisand.

‘She has always celebrated Barbra’s birthday, but this year is extra special because Barbra turns 70.’
Lea, 26, will be joined at the party this weekend by her ‘Glee’ co-star and boyfriend, Cory Monteith, and a host of their pals.

The source added: ‘Basically, Lea and Cory and her friends will watch their favorite Barbra Streisand movies and Lea will of course sing her songs.’

Lea’s obsession with Barbra doesn’t end with her parties, as she also dreams of starring in a remake of one of her films, or having her appear on ‘Glee’.

The friend said: ‘One of Lea’s biggest dreams is to star in a remake of ‘Funny Girl’, which was Barbra’s first movie role.

‘In fact, one of Lea’s other biggest dreams is to have Barbra actually be on ‘Glee’ where the two could perform the song ‘Evergreen’ together.’

Lea met her idol once, in 2010, and subsequently broke down in tears because she was so shocked.

She recalled: ‘Someone tapped me on the shoulder and it was Barbra! She said, ‘Thank you so much for introducing me to your generation.’ I was like, ‘Thank you so much. You’ve changed my life. I love you.’

‘She walked away and I collapsed, crying like a crazy person.’
