Lea Michele’s one-story house, built in 1920, features French doors, an office, attic space and two bedrooms. She paid $1.4 million for the updated bungalow.
Closing shortly after co-star Kevin McHale’s nearby home purchase, “Glee’s” Lea Michele has bought a bungalow in Hollywood for $1.4 million.
The one-story house, built in 1920, sits behind tall hedges and has a gated driveway. The updated bungalow features French doors, an office, attic space, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. An outdoor dining pavilion includes a kitchen.
Michele, 25, has played aspiring soprano Rachel Berry since 2009 on the television series. She will voice the part of Dorothy in the animated film “Dorothy of Oz,” due out this year.
Joe Reichling and Boni Bryant of Sotheby’s International Realty were the listing agents. Justin Paul Huchel of Hilton & Hyland represented the buyer.
When Glee producers were looking to cast Michele’s onscreen mom, they quickly landed on fellow Broadway veteran Menzel, who shares the starlet’s dark hair and pouty lips. But while a fan campaign brought the resemblance to light, Menzel’s husband Taye Diggs said, “We knew that existed far, far before the TV world did.”
Darren Criss and Lea Michele of “Glee” did more than sing together in public for the first time at “Taste for a Cure 2012,” the Apr. 20 fundraiser for UCLA’s Jonsson Cancer Center Foundation.
“Along with performing tonight, which is such a gift, and so generous, they were both bidding on auction items,” said dinner co-chair Dana Walden, who then turned to the TV stars and declared, “You rock!” Walden is chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Television.
The event honored NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke with the 2012 Gil Nickel Humanitarian Award. In ceremonies, Walden praised Salke for her kindness, generosity and loyalty.
“Never in the history of fundraisers has someone had more reason to decline being honored at an event like this, but when it comes to one of her friends and people in need of help, ‘no’ just isn’t in Jennifer’s vocabulary.”
In accepting her award, Salke spoke of her brushes with cancer and thanked the Jonsson Center “for the incredible work that you do every single day to save and improve the lives of your patients.”
Glee creator Ryan Murphy concluded ceremonies by introducing Criss and Michele, but not without recalling Salke’s role in Glee’s inception.
“When I told (Salke) four years ago that I wanted to do a television musical about the worst high school glee club in Lima, Ohio, she could have easily run screaming from the room – but she got it right away,” he said. “’Glee’ is all about optimism and hope, which is certainly something everyone could use a little bit more of in their lives.”
Murphy then introduced “the amazing Darren Criss and the unforgettable Lea Michele.”
Criss, aka Blaine Anderson in “Glee,” started the show solo, by singing “Almost Like Being in Love.” He followed with “Teenage Dream,“ the song he sang on his first Glee episode, and the song he said turned his life upside down.
Calling his performance a warm-up act for Michele, Criss described the show’s Rachel Berry as “charismatic” and “beautiful,” and summed up by saying, “I’m one of her biggest fans and I cry every time she sings on the show.”
Taking her turn onstage, Michele opened with “My Man,” before pausing to praise Salke. “It is because of you that ‘Glee’ is so wonderful,” she said.
The evening ended with the two singing a mesmerizing “To Make You Feel My Love.”
More dinner co-chairs were Jon Holman of The Holman Group, Larry Maguire of Far Niente Winery, Jay Sures of United Talent Agency and Gary Newman, chairman of Twentieth Century Fox Television, who introduced Judith Gasson, director of the Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. Among others attending were David Nevins, Showtime’s president of entertainment; and Kevin Reilly, president of FOX Broadcasting Company.
Participating chefs were Gilles Arzur of the Beverly Wilshire Hotel; Ludovic Lefebvre of LudoBites; Suzanne Tracht of Jar; and Cindy Pawlcyn of Cindy’s Backstreet Kitchen, Mustards Grill and Brassica.
Glee just uploaded the full clip of Lea/Rachel’s duet with Santana performing ‘So Emotional’ on tonight’s episode “Dance With Somebody”. I have also posted the full performance of ‘How I Will I Know’ the other day here.
“Glee” gets a super-sized episode for its next Nationals event. TVLine reports that FOX will combine the 20th and 21st installments of the drama musical series into one, which will air for two hours on Tuesday, May 15.
In the first of the two hours, Tina suffers a mild head injury and begins to experience an alternate reality while the New Directions are planning for the annual competition. This plot explains recent set photos which see Mark Salling’s Puck channeling Blaine, Cory Monteith’s Finn dressing like Kurt, and Jenna Ushkowitz’s Tina playing Rachel.
The second hour will focus on the New Directions at the competition, which will feature Lindsay Lohan, Perez Hilton and Rex Lee as the judges. Words are, the “Bobby” actress will play a “heightened” version of herself and has some funny moments, including being disappointed she doesn’t get a red chair that whips around like on “The Voice”.
Lea was spotted leaving a restaurant with Cory Monteith in Los Angeles, California on April 20, 2012. They look oh so cute together and of course, Lea was wearing yet another pair of ALDO wedges. Get them here. Check out 9 high quality photos I uploaded to the gallery.
Lea is featured on the cover of the May 2012 issue of Girlfriend magazine and I just got the time to have them scanned for you. If the photos look familiar to you, it is because they are from the photoshoot she did back in October 2010 for Glamour magazine. I will try to post the transcript by the end of this week but until then you can have a read of the interview piece from the scans.
Speaking of transcript, I am thinking of working on a press archive for the site, where you will be able to read her past interviews, her magazine cover stories and more. Let me know in the comment below if this is something you’d like to see.
Her TV show might be lighthearted and fun, but in real life, Lea Michele works hard to promote the causes that are important to her, including animal rights.
Michele is an outspoken animal supporter. She’s a proud vegan and has worked hard to ban carriage horses in NYC. Now she’s hoping to share her message of compassion with teenage girls.
In the May issue of Seventeen magazine, the “Glee” actress talks about animal rights, her work with PETA, and the importance of taking care of stray animals.
“I’m a huge animal lover, and it makes me so sad to see homeless animals suffering. Since animals can’t speak up for themselves, it’s our job to protect them. That’s why I’ve been supporting People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) for the past four years. It all started with me simply going to peta.org and writing in the comment box that I wanted to help. The next day, PETA contacted me with a list of campaigns I could join!” she says.
She also explains how easy it is for teens (and anyone, really!) to spread the word about animal rights — all you have to do is use your social media.
“There are so many ways to help. You can use your Facebook and Twitter accounts to encourage people to bring strays to animal shelters where they’ll be cared for properly. Or you can adopt them like I did!”
The spread also features other ways to get involved in animal activism, including tips on pet adoption, how to join PETA’s street team, and suggestions for volunteering at animal shelters.
This kind of compassion is really something to sing about!

The cast of the American television show “Glee” has become the first act to place 200 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, Columbia Records said.
The stars of the music-themed series first appeared on the U.S. record chart in 2009 with their version of Journey’s classic “Don’t Stop Believin’.”
In late 2010, the “Glee” cast topped The Beatles’ record of 71 entries on the Hot 100. The ensemble marked another milestone in 2011, when their 113th entry beat Elvis Presley’s record of 108 entries, officially making them the record-holder for most entries in Billboard’s 54-year history.
Contributing to the “Glee” cast’s landmark 200 entries is their recent version of Gotye’s “Somebody That I Used to Know,” which sold 170,000 tracks in two weeks.
To date, “Glee” has sold 43 million songs and more than 12 million albums worldwide.
Lea Michele is throwing a 70th birthday party for Barbra Streisand.
The ‘Glee’ star is a huge fan of the singer and actress and plans to pull out all the stops with a huge party as her idol reaches the landmark age on April 24.
A source told Hollywoodlife.com: ‘Lea is obsessed with Barbra Streisand.
‘She has always celebrated Barbra’s birthday, but this year is extra special because Barbra turns 70.’
Lea, 26, will be joined at the party this weekend by her ‘Glee’ co-star and boyfriend, Cory Monteith, and a host of their pals.
The source added: ‘Basically, Lea and Cory and her friends will watch their favorite Barbra Streisand movies and Lea will of course sing her songs.’
Lea’s obsession with Barbra doesn’t end with her parties, as she also dreams of starring in a remake of one of her films, or having her appear on ‘Glee’.
The friend said: ‘One of Lea’s biggest dreams is to star in a remake of ‘Funny Girl’, which was Barbra’s first movie role.
‘In fact, one of Lea’s other biggest dreams is to have Barbra actually be on ‘Glee’ where the two could perform the song ‘Evergreen’ together.’
Lea met her idol once, in 2010, and subsequently broke down in tears because she was so shocked.
She recalled: ‘Someone tapped me on the shoulder and it was Barbra! She said, ‘Thank you so much for introducing me to your generation.’ I was like, ‘Thank you so much. You’ve changed my life. I love you.’
‘She walked away and I collapsed, crying like a crazy person.’
